WATERLOVERS BEACH RESORT | STOP OVER DIANI BEACH
We flew from Lamu to Mombasa and then drove south along the coast to reach Diani and Waterlovers. It is about 35km away from Mombasa, and an hour drive (depending on the traffic jam to cross Mombasa Ferry)/
Waterlovers got tis name from its owner, a former kitesurf champion who decided to set up there to enjoy the windy beaches of Diani.
The hotel got 8 spacious room, a villa and a penthouse. A pool is located in the middle of the resort, with a breath-taking view over the lagoon and reef. The long white sand beach where Waterlovers is located on is one of the most beautiful we ever experience. Perfect for morning runs or bike rides when it was low tide. We had a great time everyday with loads of monkeys coming to our balcony looking for fruits or simply playing in the trees.
By the way, try to avoid Kenyan east cost in May during the raining seasons. It is pouring on a daily basis.
The hotel is decorated and furnish with a local style. Every items are crafted on –site in the workshop Waterlovers has, from the table, chairs, to the ashtrays or the closets.
Another high of Waterlover is their menu. A mix between Italian and exotic food, with vegetarian options. The menu changed everyday but was stiff offering a fair range of options. Keep in mind that the owners are Italians, so we are quite biased since Italian cuisine is one of our favourite.
They served everyday a breakfast with different seasonal fresh fruit, a special baked cake of the day, eggs, fresh juices, …. Everything you need to star the day and that can bring you late afternoon!
Valentino and Erica are water sport lovers, it is where the name come from, so if you like paddle, diving, kite surf, windsurf or any over water sport, Diani beach is the place to go.
Enjoy the pics.
Love,
