FOUR SEASONS CAIRO | AT THE FIRST RESIDENCE AND AT THE NILE PLAZA
Four Seasons Cairo | Nile Plaza and First Residence
Hi Guys!
As you already knew, we left Morocco for Egypt last month to continue our adventures. Our first stop, the ancient city of Cairo. Since we were dying to stay near the legendary Nile River stand out options for us were the Four Seasons Cairo at the Nile Plaza and the Four Seasons Cairo at the First Residence.
The security situation in Egypt is often an on-going topic of discussion internationally and is something we continually receive questions about. Without a shadow of doubt in our minds, we can honestly say that we felt safe all the time.
We were picked up by the hotel’s luxury berlin (with snacks, water bottles and, WiFi in it at the airport, and once we arrived at the hotel entrance, all vehicles had to pass trough a full security check at the hotel arrival with dogs, agents,….
Any lingering doubts about our safety were completely erased after talking to the locals and the friendliest staff member.
Our first stay was at the Four Seasons Cairo at the Nile Plaza. The location of the hotel was superb. Conveniently located, the hotel is a 10-minute walk from the iconic Tahir Square. Our room featured beautiful views of the Nile River (the hotel is literally on the docks) as well as a view of Old Cairo.
The variety of food on offer at the hotel was truly amazing. We were able to try the Italian restaurant Bella, and I can emphatically say that was excellent. Check out our picture of the massive veal Milanese we were able to eat! Within the hotel there is also an Egyptian restaurant (Zitouni), a Chinese restaurant (8) as well as a poolside grill and a number of bars and lounges.
We were also able to make use of the hotel’s spa where we were able to enjoy a Balinese massage from a native Balinese therapist. After our massage, we stayed for a whie at the private sauna and Jacuzzi. This was real luxury.
Our second hotel was the Four Seasons Cairo at the First Residence. The hotel was the first Four Season hotel established in the Middle East. Similar to the Nile Plaza location, the First Residence is superbly located on the opposite side of the Nile River in the middle of a number of embassies. Whether you are travelling with children or looking for a long walk, the Cairo Zoo is also located close by. In case, you were sceptical of the security of the hotel, there are plenty of visible security guards and police to make you feel safe.
The hotel boasts a number of impressive views including the Nile River or the great pyramid. We were fortunate enough to stay in the Presidential Suite, which featured levels of luxury which words cannot do justice. Check out Bea’s pic sitting is this spacious suite.
We are lovers of Lebanese food and at the Four Seasons Cairo at the First Residence we found our spiritual home: Aura Restaurant. We were able to sample an assortment of traditional hot and cold mezzeh, as well as Arabic grills (mainly meat). The meat was so succulent that even discussing it makes us die to try it again. The First residence is also home to an Italian restaurant – Strada, which we were unable to visit.
We were also able to attend the spring break party at the beginning of April 2017 at the La Gourmandise restaurant. The event featured stars including Dina, Poussy, Ahmed Shiba, Youssra, Ragh, Mohamed El Rabban & Band “Street 3. We can safely say that Egyptians know how to party hard until the early morning!
At both hotels the service of both the staff and concierge were exceptional. The concierge service is so amazing that you can book a table under the Giza pyramid for a private dinner if you feel like it. We didn’t make use of this service and chose a day trip instead to see the Giza pyramid which still made for a breath-taking experience.
For those of you lucky enough to travel from Western countries, the prices are more than affordable thanks to the current exchange rates. We highly recommend that you stop being afraid and travel to Egypt. With its rich history and vibrant people, Egypt is really worth the visit!
Up next, we’ll share our adventures in Sharm El-Sheikh and tell you more about the Red Sea.
Enjoy the pics,
Love, Xx
